5th Grade Newsletter for the Week of Dec. 11-14

  • Welcome back to the 17th week of this blessed school year which marks the 2nd week of Advent season.
  • Hopefully you all had the chance to attend Sunday Mass at St. Eugene or your respective parishes if so, be prepared to share with the class a summary of what you learned from the homily about waiting patiently for the coming of Jesus Christ.
  • Remember this week marks the lighting of the 2nd Purple candle.
  • Just a final reminder that our Christmas program will take place this Thursday December 14th. Hopefully you have all gotten your attire ready. Once again, boys will wear black pants, white shirt with red tie while girls wear white or red dressy dress with red or white scarf around the neck. Please report to our classroom by 6:45p.m.
  • Parents, remember you are specially invited to come and see your children in action as they set the tone for this year’s Christmas Celebration.
  • A very special thank you to the many of you who consistently demonstrate eagerness to learn, and contribute to making teaching a joyful experience.
  • Parents, please continue to browse and sign your child’s completed daily homework, as this will enable you keep track of what we are covering in each subject area. Also ensure your child comes to class early at least before 8:00 am. and prepared with all the required supplies. This will minimize distractions caused by some students walking around to borrow these items.
  • Your 2nd quarter science project will be due on the 12th of January 2018 which is a Friday

*Refer to your outline, and draft your informative/explanatory story. Be sure you identify your topic in the introduction, include 4 supporting details, and end with a conclusion.

Wednesday December 13 -Math: Objective – You will add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. Std: NF.1 & NF.2.

5th Grade Newsletter for the Week of Dec. 4 – 8

  • Welcome back to the 16th week of this blessed school year. Hopefully you all had the chance to attend Sunday Mass at St. Eugene or your respective parishes as churches kicked off advent which is a very special season of hopeful and joyful preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ.
  • Parents, please note that three masses are offered at our St. Eugene parish every Sunday which provides you ample opportunity to attend any of the sessions scheduled as follows: 8:00 (bilingual), 10:00 (English), and 12 :00 noon (Igbo).
  • Also continue to browse and sign your Child’s daily completed homework, as this will enable you keep track of what we are covering in each subject area.
  • Choir members, special thank for your enthusiastic participation in leading the songs at our school mass last Friday. Keep it up.
  • Parents, please mark your calendar, St Eugene’s memorable Christmas program will take place on the 14th of December at 7 p.m. However, the expected arrival time is between 6:30 – 6:45 p.m.

5th Grade Newsletter for the Week of Nov. 27 – Dec. 1

  • Welcome back to the 15th week of this blessed school year. Hopefully you all had the chance to attend Sunday Mass at St. Eugene or your respective parishes as churches celebrated the solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ King of the universe.
  • I believe you all enjoyed your returning rejuvenated to continue the activities of the 2nd quarter.
  • Parents, please note that three mases are offered at St. Eugene parish every Sunday which provides ample opportunity to attend any of the sessions scheduled as follows: 8:00 a.m. (bilingual), 10:00 a.m. (English), and 12:00 noon (Igbo).
  • Parents, your attendance at the Parent/Teacher conferences surpassed my expectation, and for that I am very grateful especially for all your positive input and support.
  • By the end of this week, I will let you know the due date for the 2nd quarter class science project.
  • Please remember that the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade field trip is scheduled on the same Monday that the school resumes. Therefore, your signed permission slips must be turned in first thing on Monday morning.

5th Grade Newsletter for the Week of Nov. 6-10

  • Welcome back to the 12th week of this blessed school year. I believe you all enjoyed the weekend with your families.
  • Last week was quite a fun and prayerful one as we had the privilege of observing All saints and All Souls Days as well as enjoy St. Eugene Harvest festival.
  • Hopefully, you all had the chance to attend Sunday mass at your respective parish or at our St Eugene parish.
  • This week, I look forward to choosing the best behaved and most cooperative student who will be on display as the STAR student of the week. I will explain details of how this works in class tomorrow.

  • It is with pleasure that I commend the majority of you for your active participation in class discussions especially during our interactive warm up practice.
  • Special thanks to most of you who have gotten on board with the “I Can” statements that apply with our lesson objectives.
  • Just a friendly reminder that your next first quarter book report is due this Friday, October 13, 2017. However, feel free to turn yours in if you finish before the due date.

  • It is with much delight to note that majority of you are doing great job of participating actively in class participation, especially during our warm-up/interactive discussions.

  • Special thanks to all who were present last Friday for 100% compliance regarding the free dress fundraiser to support the Hurricane Harvey victims.
  • As mentioned in class, our next first quarter book report is due on the 13th of October 2017. So, plan ahead.

  • It is a pleasure to welcome you back to the 6th week of this blessed school year.
  • So far more and more of you are doing a great job of participating actively in class discussions especially during our interactive discussions.
  • Also, majority of you have gotten on board with the “I can” statements that applies with our curriculum objectives.
  • Special thanks to the parents who attended the PTO meeting last Thursday. I believe your children enjoyed their “free dress” incentives.
  • Based on my observations, only one parent complied with my request about browsing and signing your child’s completed homework. Remember doing this will enable keep track of what we are conveying in each subject area for the week.
  • Students, as I mentioned to you in class, our first quarter book report will be due in about two weeks’ time. So please start to plan ahead. I will let you know the exact date by next week.

  • With much pleasure, I welcome you all back to the 4th week of this wonderful school year.
  • The past three weeks have been fun and productive.
  • I believe you are all enjoying the lessons/our class routine.
  • Bravo to those of you are participating actively in class discussions. I am looking forward to 100% active participation especially during our warm practice.

Special thanks to those of you who made the extra efforts to attend our patron St Eugene 75 Anniversary on Sunday. We are extremely proud of you all for representing our school and being part of the special celebration. I will share the group picture we took with Archbishop Jose Gomez.
  • Special gratitude to Mr./Mrs. Stephens N’Dia’s parents who thoughtfully donated another fan to our class. It is helping a lot.

5th Grade Newsletter for the Week of August 28 – September 1

  • I welcome all of you back with excitement to the 2nd week of this wonderful school year.
  • We had an amazing and peaceful first week. The students who returned last week were very cooperative and responsive to class routine.
  • I pray we keep it going smoothly that way all year long.
  • It was a pleasure to observe my students welcome their fellow classmates back with cheerfulness.
  • Parents it was also a great pleasure to get to see some of you again, and meet our new parents who seemed excited to join us this year. It promises to be a peaceful and successful year with everyone’s support.
  • Just a reminder that the back to school meeting is scheduled for the 29th August which is on Tuesday this week at 6pm.
  • I will give highlights of my goals/expectations at the meeting including common core curriculum goal/standards/expectations
  • Special thanks to parents who have filled out and returned the parent surveys I sent home last week.   • Welcome back to the 38th week of this school year which marks the Ascension into Heaven our Risen savior Jesus Christ.
  • Hopefully, you all had the chance to attend Sunday mass at your respective church or our own St. Eugene parish.
  • I look forward to you sharing summaries of what you learned from the gospel message.
  • Please come prepared to continue your finals this week. Remember these tests will help to determine your possible promotion to 6th grade. So please be sure to get enough sound sleep. Parents, please ensure your child comes prepared with all necessary supplies such as three sharpened pencils, calculator, eraser, college ruled papers and so on.
  • Once again special thanks to the 14 of you who qualified for the Science Expo finals.

Welcome back to the 2nd week of a brand new year; 2017! This brings us to out 20th week of this hopeful school year. Following the Liturgical calendar we are now in the 2nd week of the Ordinary Time. 5th Grade Newsletter for the Week of December 12-16

Welcome back to the 17th week of this hopeful school year which marks the 3rd week of Advent. Hopefully you all had the chance to attend Sunday mass either at St. Eugene or your respective parishes. If so, be prepared to share with the class a summary of what you learned from the homily about waiting patiently for the coming of Jesus Christ. Remember that this week marks the lighting of the pink candle symbolizing our joy as Christ’s coming is drawing nearer. Those who have not turned in their class science project may still do so this week, but you will not receive full credit. Just a final reminder that our Christmas program will take place this Thursday December 15. Hopefully you have gotten your attire ready. Boys will wear black pants, white shirts with red bow tie while girls wear gorgeous white dress with red scarf around the neck. Please report to our classroom by 6:45pm.
